Eating Right for Your Body

How do you know whether you need a Dietitian, Nutritionist, or a Sport Nutrition Specialist? What's the difference?

Registered Dietitians and Nutritionists (in Kentucky) have obtained a formal degree in a qualifying field of study and obtained & maintained licensure or certification through the Board of Licensure and Certification for Dietitians and Nutritionists.

The title Nutrition Specialist is not typically regulated.  Therefore, if you seek the advice of a Nutrition Specialist, it is important to inquire about credentials and experience. As  an experienced certified Personal Trainer and Sport Nutrition Specialist through the National Council on Strength and Fitness, I have the knowledge and qualifications to help with questions such as:

  • What is my resting metabolic rate?

  • How many calories should I eat?

  • What should I eat before I exercise?

  • What should I eat after I exercise?

  • What is the best timing between eating and exercising?

  • What are food exchanges?
